Pastor Andy Hawes was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA, and brought up in an Episcopal church. When he was a 12 years old, and employed at a White’s Auto Store, a man offered to give him a ride home from work. During the ride the man clearly explained the gospel, using verses in the Bible from the book of Romans. Afterward, Andy responded to the invitation by asking Jesus to be his Savior and Lord.
At the age of nineteen, after being challenged by a Christian television program, Andy surrendered his life to the Lord, and rapid spiritual growth followed. He began to study for the ministry at Liberty Baptist College while serving the Lord, fulltime, in evangelistic bus ministry.
It was during these years that the Lord brought Nancy into his life. She too was a student at Liberty and began to serve the Lord through the bus ministry’s Big Brother / Big Sister program where they met. They were married in November 1987.
In 1991 they moved to Lancaster, PA. and raised a son and three daughters. Two of their children are married and have blessed Andy and Nancy’s lives with two grand-daughters, and a grandson. Their son and his family serve the Lord as missionaries in Papua New Guinea.
